Choice Matters Midwife Collective works toward bringing about change in maternity care. We set a standard in creating accessibility to address the needs of people who might not otherwise have options for homebirth. Community outreach is important to us, we maintain an open door to all individuals and families wishing to learn more about the homebirth process. We recognize the significant barriers that exist in today’s maternal health system, and work to break those barriers down by listening to the needs of each community and working to meet those needs individually. Whether it’s education, prenatal clinic, breastfeeding support, or resource access, our commitment is to the clients we serve.

Our Origins

Our collective came together with recognition that access to midwifery care was limited in our area. Established in 2017, we joined forces in a unique way by maintaining individual practices yet coming together as a group to support all persons wishing to birth their babies at home. Our practices collaborate with one another to enrich the knowledge of birth to benefit our clientele with added information. When choosing a midwife to work with, our clients can know they will work with one primary midwife throughout their course of care with the added support of a community of midwives. Because our approach to midwifery care aligns with one another’s practices, we can provide care to a wider location range and ensure clients can choose a midwife that works best for them.

Our Care

Birth is not meant to feel solitary. As midwives, it is our job to act as an informant and guide to setting up a birth plan that is right for you. Each person has the power to choose, we all maintain standard of care while still offering autonomy in decisions and choices. Each of these choices will be honored and respected throughout the course of your care. Every aspect of the decision making process is addressed first with educational pieces, and followed with care options discussed at length. We believe your questions and concerns should be given time, so our prenatal visits last 45 minutes to an hour. Building a relationship with our clients allows us to offer a foundation for support in one of the most intimate and vulnerable times in a person’s life. Choosing a midwife who can meet your needs best is critical in feeling supported and empowered during your birth.
